Other than defined conservation areas, there are other sections within the Legacy of Leesburg subdivision which offer a habitat for wildlife. The picture below shows and uplands area of trees which borders Meandering Trails Boulevard, one of the private streets within the community. This wooded area is part of the scrub jay habitat reserve within Legacy of Leesburg. (No homes have direct access to the boulevards; rear properties border on the common ground at the sides of this boulevard.)
Over 1,000 scrub oak trees have been planted on the far side of this wooded area as part of an upland enhancement area plan to provide an extended habitat area for the scrub jays. Scrub jays are frequently seen from the Scrub Jay trail which passes behind the Blue Savannah Drive area.
